30 day shred!!

May 20th, 2012

… Well, as soon as I can find the remote to my DVD player, that my daughter conveniently lost LOL! I’m going to try out this 30 day shred thing that everyone on MFP is talking about! I’m SUPER stoked!! I’m really looking forward to, if for anything, just the chemical rush that you get after exercising. I’m finding it beyond helpful to just go for a run, walk, dance, anything to get my body moving when I’m feeling frustrated. Whether its because some people are just f’ing idiots and their parents should be punished for raising such horrible people, or its an intense day at school, no matter what it is literally the best feeling in the world to just pound it out with sweat. Anyone else that’s been doing the 30DS I’d be interested in following along with!

Juicing Recipes

May 20th, 2012

One of my MFP buddies asked me about more recipes, so here it goes! Some I’ve tried and others I haven’t.

Carrot Orange Juice

8 to 10 large, peeled carrots (or use baby carrots, as they’re sweeter)

2 to 3 large, peeled oranges

(this I have tried and LOVE! I prefer it with baby carrots though)

You could also add apples to this, strawberries, blue berries, raspberries, pears, kiwis, peaches, plums, mango… It is best to drink your fruit juices in the morning, as they do have more sugar in them even though it’s a natural sugar.

Another juice idea

1 cup raspberries

1 cup strawberries

2 de-cored apples

2 peeled oranges

This I haven’t tried with the raspberries, but the other three I have. YUM!

This I have not tried, I thought it looked interesting. I personally really enjoy my broccoli steamed, but hey what the hell!? Why not?

  • 1 Cup cauliflower
  • 1 Cup broccoli
  • 1 Apple

Some veggies/fruit you can put into juices

Kale, spinach, cucumber, carrots, baby carrots, celery, ginger root, beets, apples, pineapple, oranges, tangerines, mandarin oranges, watermelon (this is purely water and doesn’t give much flavor but it can be done), melons, mango, kiwi, blue berries (good antioxidants in it!), raspberries, strawberries, black berries, lemons, limes, grapefruit, cherries (careful these are a diuretic), really anything you can imagine… lettuce, heads of lettuce, romaine lettuce, can go into the juicer. If you use ginger root I really suggest using very very VERY little! You can also buy some mint leaves and throw it into your juicer. That’s yum too :)

Ideas to throw things together

carrot/mango juice

kale/spinach/celery/cucumber/pineapple (the pineapple does a really good job at covering up the flavor) You can even freeze the pineapple before hand, juice it up, and its super yum! You can also throw the juice in a blender with some ice and make a type of slushie out of it. Which rocks for hot days :)

Left overs like carrot left overs can be put into foods. You can make pineapple carrot cake/muffins/bread. Put left over strawberries/berries in lowfat yogurt.

I’m really a fan of the kale and spinach so I haven’t ventured too much outside my yummy zone, but I hope this helps for now. When I find more I’ll post it for you :)
